Bluejackets
History of Bluejacket Football
On October 22, 1910, the first Cambridge - Isanti High School team went into action against Sandstone, winning 17 to 0. Thus began the long and colorful tradition of Cambridge - Isanti High School football. CIHS has fielded a team every year since 1910 with the exception of 1914 (no schools showed up for their scheduled games), and 1924 (the equipment was lost).
Notes about several exceptional Bluejacket squads: The 1913 and 1919 teams were not scored on, and the 1929 team had only a safety scored against them. The 1979, 1991, 1992, 1997 and 2005 teams reached state but lost in the quarterfinals of the State playoffs. The 1983 team lost in the State A semifinals to Hutchinson 27 - 14; the 1977 team lost in the State AA semifinals to Stillwater 7 - 0; and the 1995 team lost in the State AA semifinals to Rochester Mayo 29 - 14.
